without vociferous, chatter-birds
or those hollow, droning voices
and their mindless, mocking words

stirring turbulent thoughts inside me
which all rage against the norm

as the calm before a strike
holding back your tongue to spite me
till your fangs can take their bite

which need not ask or answer
any words of life or death

which is wordless in my dreams
